This is a very well-realized piece! I love the use of texture throughout, and the interplay of sharp and fuzzy edges that lend a lot of...

Well, since my last journal entry I finished up the Nain Rouge project! I'll be putting some pages up here on DA soon, but for now you can see several pages - both black and white and the final colors - on my home web site here:

www.megaflowgraphics.com

What an amazing project that was! I adapted the kids' novel "The Nain Rouge", by Joseph Bastain, adapting the dialog and story, drawing, inking, coloring and lettering all 80 pages in just a few month's time (with a few other projects sprinkled in along the way). I'll tell you, it was quite an amazing feeling to finally finish, and I got that odd sensation like when you've been driving for a long time and when you get out of the car you still feel like you're moving even though you've stopped. To go from drawing/inking two pages a day to just the normal pace of life was a bit of a letdown, actually!

Anyway, I hope you'll stop by my site and take a look at those pages.

In other news, WORLD WAR KAIJU finally made it to print! And it's out and ready to buy on Amazon.com! It's available in print OR Kindle e-book editions:

Whispers from the Abyss II by PatrickMcEvoy
Whispers from the Abyss II
This is the cover for Whispers from the Abyss II from 01 publishing. It's an anthology of Lovecraft-inspired short fiction, and they are accepting submissions until 5/30/2015: take a look here - 01publishing.com/submissions/o…

The character on the left is the Starspawn from the first Whispers volume, with awesome art by Josh Finney: Whispers from the Abyss It's nice to see him back for another appearance.

Not much else to say, except that I LOVE doing Mythos-related art.

Chase scene - Pickman's Model by PatrickMcEvoy
Chase scene - Pickman's Model

Here's a two-page spread from a comics project I'm doing with writer Josh Finney for 01 Publishing: a story based on Lovecraft's "Pickman's Model" but with a LOT of twists. Just a tease; we'll be talking about it more in the months to come, leading up to a Kickstarter early 2015. I'll be posting some more pages and sketches as we get closer. It's another new style for me - let me know what you think!

The idea on this spread is to simulate the feel of an action/chase movie sequence with a lot of quick cuts. In that spirit, it's meant to be read in any order as long as you start on the left. (Well, I guess you really don't even have to do that - who am I to say?)  The medium is a combination of drawing, inking and digital. Be sure to enlarge the view for lots of scary detail!

The Ogre by PatrickMcEvoy
The Ogre
This one is from The Strage: Bestiary book from Monte Cook Games. What a great property to work on, just like their Numenera books - so much variety! Nothing out of the ordinary here in terms of technique or anything, but I did have lots of fun making him look disturbingly cannibalistic.

Mega-parasites by PatrickMcEvoy
Mega-parasites
These are some creatures done to illustrate a story in the Lovecraft-inspired anthology "Whispers from the Abyss" from 01 publishing. Basically in the mythos they'd be Deep Ones - crawling on shore to terrorize the folks in town nearby.

It's always nice to do some line work! Hope you enjoy.

Legendary’s Thomas Tull has just made it official at his Comic-Con panel: Gareth Edwards appeared via video announcing Godzilla 2. He will direct after helming the Star Wars spinoff. They also disclosed Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah would be part of it, and the clip ended with “Let them fight.”

Mothra
Rodan
And Ghidorah all coming in 2018!

Excited to see Pacific Rim 2, but after the letdown of Godzilla I'm only guardedly optimistic for the next one.

I didn't think it was a let down. It was better then half of the Godzilla movies, sorry most of them are boring, I just skip to the Godzilla fights.
