@2005 Fantasy Flight Games

Way back in late 2003 I began doing cards for Fantasy Flight's "Game of Thrones" CCG. In honor of the new series on HBO I thought I'd post a few of these. I eventually ended up doing about 90 cards for this game.

This picture of Melisandre was also used by FFG as a convention promotional giveaway print.

This piece, and the one by Donato Giancola, are my favorite renderings of Melisandre: beautiful and deadly. The heat from the flame effects is palpable and the motion captured in the fabric and hair are phenomenal.

It also helps that FFG put this image on a really powerful version of the card in their LCG. :)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked my vision of the dangerously alluring Melisandre. And it certainly makes my day to be mentioned in the same breath as Donato! :D

As I usually do, I started with a pencil sketch, then scanned it in. Then I blocked in rough colors in Photoshop. Then I saved a flat version and opened that in Painter to blend the colors there, then BACK to Photoshop to finish by doing details. :)
