** UPDATE 2 - A note on technique **

I used a Motion Blur on the sand to get it to look nice. Several years back I did a tutorial for Epilogue.net about that and other uses for Motion Blur in Photoshop: [link] (This picture was featured as an example on Page 4). Take a look - it's a great tool for lots of unexpected things.

Way back in late 2003 I began doing cards for Fantasy Flight's "Game of Thrones" CCG. In honor of the new series on HBO I thought I'd post a few of these.

One thing I loved about doing these cards was all the many physical environments I got to depict, as the far-reaching story takes place in so many different locales.

hey mate, i see your interested in game of thrones, if you are also interested in strategic video game these guys on this website and recreating the world of Westros, its great houses and etc. its a modification of Medieval 2: Total War. i think the team would really appreciate if you could help them by drawing flags, shield textures, armors and swords.
