Issue #4 of Lost in Space, from American Gothic Press, is out now! I did the cover and all interior art for this arc of the series, which is based on a script from the original series for the un-produced 4th season. Here, the gang (including their talking Llama - long story, but he was going to be a regular in season 4) waits out a storm in a cave, reading Lewis Carroll stories.

And while I have your attention! Please check out my current Kickstarter for Casefile: Arkham book 2, a graphic novel in the unusual Horror/Detective Noir genre. I think you'll enjoy it!   kck.st/2bDFlN1

This evokes the charm of the vintage series very nicely.

Cool. But I do not recall a purple llama on the show, just a monkey. Is that something new for just this issue?

Long story!
In the episode from Season 3, "The Great Carrot Rebellion", they introduced a purple guy named "Willoughby the Llama". It was originally supposed to be a REAL PURPLE LLAMA, but after it attacked Jonathan Harris, they rewrote it for a human.

This was meant to be a new cast member! So in this script, probably written during Season 3 but left to be used in season 4, they brought him back. It seems, though I can't be certain, that they did mean to make him a recurring character. He's got odd reality-bending psychic powers that come in real handy to get them into strange situations.

And then, since we don't have to worry about rogue Llamas on our comic book set, the studio asked us to make it a real llama (I'd originally drawn the guy from the show in this scene, and had to change it to the quadruped you see here).

And there you have it! Real behind-the-scenes stuff. :D

Thanks - it was a very fun project. I just wrapped up the inks for the third and final issue in the arc. I'm sad to see it end. :(
